RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE HOSPITAL STAFF

Dr. Wendelburg and Mobile Surgical Precision, PLLC is thrilled to partner with your team!   Without you and your staff we cannot provide the medical needs that your patient requires.

before surgery

  • Mobile Surgical Precision, PLLC operates as an independent contractor.  Final estimate (total cost) will be provided to the client by the hospital prior to the day of surgery.
  • Complete pre-operative physical exam and assessment for anesthesia and surgery by the attending clinician, complete CBC and chemistry profile within 2 weeks of surgery.
  • Diagnostics including ultrasound, radiographs, UA, urine culture, echocardiogram, CT or MRI as indicated.
  • Patient should be fasted before anesthesia (no food after midnight, only small amount of water in the morning). Special adjustments will be made for diabetics.
  • Pre-medications, IV catheter placement and as much patient preparation as possible should be executed in a timeline anticipating the surgeon's arrival. 
  • Anesthetic induction should not occur until Dr. Wendelburg has arrived to examine the patient.

during surgery

  • Anesthetic monitoring including ECG, blood pressure and pulse oximetry. Technical anesthesia support should be provided by the hospital.
  • All patients must be intubated, administered IV fluids and provided with inhalant gas anesthesia during the surgical procedure. 
  • All intra-operative medications need to be provided and administered by the attending clinician and technical staff. 
  • If a sterile surgical assistant is needed, the hospital will provide a surgical assistant for a short period of time if necessary. 

after surgery

  • All post-operative monitoring and recovery from anesthesia as well as post-operative patient care prior to discharge is provided by the attending clinician.
  • All post-operative medications, e-collars, slings, etc. will be prescribed by the attending clinician. 
  • Post-operative re-checks are provided by the attending clinician. Dr. Wendelburg is always happy to review radiographs, pictures or videos if they are emailed to her.

RESPONSIBILITIES OF MOBILE SURGICAL PRECISION, PLLC

Before surgery

  • Dr. Wendelburg will be available for rDVMs for phone or e-mail consultations. The case and proper surgical procedure will be discussed, and the date and time of surgery will then be scheduled. 
  • Dr. Wendelburg will do a phone consultation with the client prior to surgery to discuss the surgical procedure, risks, prognosis and post-operative care. 
  • Mobile Surgical Precision, PLLC will provide an anesthetic and surgical consent form prior to the day of surgery. This is located on the website for the clients to access.  This form is to be read and signed by the client and kept in the patient's medical record.
  • Dr. Wendelburg will contact your clinic on the day before surgery to confirm the day and time of the surgery.

during surgery

  • Mobile Surgical Precision, PLLC provides all surgical supplies anticipated for a given surgery.  On occasion, some items from your hospital may need to be used.

After surgery

  • Dr. Wendelburg will contact the client immediately after surgery to go over surgical findings. 
  • Mobile Surgical Precision, PLLC will provide you with a copy of the surgical report and discharge instructions for your patient's medical records and client. 
  • Dr. Wendelburg can provide recommendations on aftercare, pain management or antibiotics based on individual patient needs.   
  • Dr. Wendelburg is available to the hospital staff by phone or e-mail throughout the patient's recovery period to discuss concerns or complications that may arise.
